Paul Daley vs. Erick Silva confirmed for Bellator London

Share

Veteran welterweights Paul Daley and Erick Silva will have the chance to move back into the winning column after losing their respective Bellator 216 bouts last month.

Earlier today, the promotion made the contest official for Bellator 222, which will take place at the SSE Arena in London this June. The event will be headlined by a middleweight title clash between Gegard Mousasi and Rafael Lovato Jr.

Heavy hitter Daley was controversially outpointed by fellow Brit Michael “Venom” Page in Connecticut on February 16, while Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt Silva dropped a decision to Yaroslav Amosov at the same event. The pair have a combined 90 bouts between them, and Daley will be looking to utilise his slightly superior experience in what will be his 60th career fight.

Both Silva and Daley had stints in the UFC, with “Semtex” going 2-1 before being banned ‘for life’ after cheap-shotting Koscheck following the conclusion of their May 2010 tilt, a match he was thoroughly frustrated in. Silva, meanwhile, compiled a 7-8 record in six years with the promotion, including a notable win over Charlie Brenneman. He was snapped up by Bellator earlier this year, with a submission victory in LFA sandwiching his UFC release in late 2017.

Elsewhere at Bellator London, Conor McGregor’s SBG stablemate and fancied Irish prospect James Gallagher is set to face off against Jeremiah Labiano. The 8-1 featherweight will be looking to build on a seventh career submission victory over Justin Smitley in September last year. Polarising Geordie Shore alumni Aaron Chalmers will also feature on the card, against an opponent yet to be confirmed.
