Arsenal Need To Say Goodbye To Koscielny

Share

Laurent Koscielny has done a lot for Arsenal for the past decade. However, it is time for a parting of ways to take place. Koscielny has reportedly attracted a lot of interest from his homeland of France, according to a report published by The Daily Mail

Age has now caught up with Koscielny

Koscielny was a brilliant defender during his heyday and was one of the Gunners most influential players during the past decade. However, he has now lost speed and age has caught up with him, meaning he is not as effective. While he can be a good squad rotation player, he is unlikely to influence the Gunners possibly finishing in the top four next season. The club must look to bring in players who can help them launch a push for major silverware.

The veteran currently has one year remaining on his contract and is on a contract which earns him £75,000 per week. The Gunners must part ways with him in order to free up wages and bring in someone who can challenge towards becoming a first-team regular. Koscielny would still be able to play top-flight football for mid-table clubs across Europe’s top five leagues. It would be really sad to see him getting phased out at the Emirates. It would be fitting that Arsenal let him go at this point so that he can play as regularly as possible as he winds down his career.

If they let Koscielny go now, they may also be able to get a small fee for his signature.

Arsenal’s rebuilding process is not going to be easy and will involve making some decisions which could hurt some people. Some might feel that parting ways with Koscielny at this stage will be a sign of bad treatment towards him but it could end up being a decision which will suit all parties at this point.
