Tottenham ahead of PSG in race to sign Lyon star

Share

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele this summer.

The midfielder is one of the most in-demand players in Europe this summer and is almost certain to leave Lyon, according to a report published by Le 10 Sport. He made 33 Ligue 1 appearances, recording several assists. The player is reportedly valued at around £87 million, which could potentially pose a problem for PSG as they need to comply with FIFA Financial Fair Play rules.

Tottenham are set to bring in a number of new recruits this summer. In spite of having not made any new signings in the last two transfer windows, the North Londoners have still exceeded expectations this season. They have reached the final of the Champions League, where they will play against Liverpool, and also finished in the top four of the Premier League.

The Lilywhites need to find a replacement for Moussa Dembele, who left the club in January in order to play in the Chinese Super League. Ndombele would be a good replacement. Spurs would also be a good environment for the Frenchman to continue to hone his game. Mauricio Pochettino has a good reputation for the way in which he works with young talent and Ndombele would almost certainly get his fair share of first-team opportunities were he to link up with the North Londoners. If he joins PSG, first-team opportunities will not be certain due to the world-class talent within the Parc des Princes.

For the sake of stability, Spurs would be the best option for Ndombele. He has all the qualities which are required to shine while playing under the eye of Pochettino. Spurs must go all-out to secure this move.
