Report: PSG still keen on Arsenal sensation

French giants Paris Saint Germain are keen on securing the signature of Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, according to a report published by The Mirror.

The 19-year-old Guendouzi arrived at the Emirates Stadium last summer after impressing in his homeland of France with Lorient during the season before. He has impressed under the guidance of Unai Emery this season and has gone on to establish himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League, having made 23 appearances in the English top-flight so far this season.

Guendouzi spent nine years with PSG as a youth player between 2005-2014. Unfortunately though, he never made it to the first team and was released as a youth. After being released, he went on to join the Lorient youth development system before eventually graduating to the senior side in 2016.

The Gunners spent just £7 million to sign Guendouzi last summer and he has definitely proven to be a bargain. The report published by The Mirror also claimed that the Gunners will be demanding a fee in the region of £60 million if they are to part ways with the player.

The 19-year-old’s current contract at the Emirates is due to expire during the summer of 2022 so there is absolutely no reason for Emery’s side to sell him on the cheap. To continue the development of his career, Guendouzi should also not rush to move to PSG. He is developing just fine at the Gunners and looks almost certain to get regular first-team action under Emery during the near future.

Plenty of youngsters have stunted careers after securing moves to elite clubs at a young age, however in truth it looks like the Emirates is the perfect place for him to further his game for now. He has the potential to develop into one of the best in the game under the right guidance.
