Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says he was left disappointed with Chelsea fans after they expressed their opinion towards the Italian during the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Cardiff City.
Several chants were heard coming from The Grandstand at the Cardiff City Stadium during the Premier League clash, where supporters voiced their discontent with recent performances.
Speaking the members of the media after the game, the 60-year old believes that the negativeness of the fans could have an effect on the game and how his players performed.
“I have been on the pitch for the last 45 years and I was really disappointed for my players because they were fighting,” he said.
“Maybe it was better for them to wait until after the match, I can understand. Unfortunately, I am getting used to this – I need to work in order to change their opinion.”
The Blues looked to have been defeated in South Wales before two late goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesar Azpilicueta secured the win for Sarri in dramatic fashion.
Speaking shortly after the final whistle, the Italian also felt that his team were ‘lucky’ to come away with a victory following a poor opening 45 minutes which saw the Bluebirds dominate the game.
He said: “We were lucky. We didn’t play very well in the first-half. We conceded a goal similar to the one at Everton but today we were able to react better. We were lucky for the timing and lucky with our first goal, but in the end, I think we deserved to win.
“Today we started very badly, but in the end we won probably with a bit of luck, but we had bad luck at Everton.
