With Aaron Ramsey leaving Arsenal for Juventus at the end of the season, Gunners fans could be set for a bit of a shock next season if the Welsh International isn’t replaced.
The 28-year-old joined from Cardiff City in 2008 and has quickly become a key member over the last couple of seasons at the Emirates. If you look across all 20 teams in the Premier League, not many players offer that ‘all-round’ midfielder accolade and can drive forward the way Ramsey does. His ever-growing 250 appearances for Arsenal over the last 11 years have seen a number of highlights in North London, including the last minute goal in Arsenal’s 2014 FA Cup Final win over Hull City.
Even defensively, Ramsey offers a sublime return within Arsenal’s squad and has also proved this upon the international stage, playing a key part in Wales’ successful Euro 2016 campaign in France where they reached the semi-finals of the competition.
He’s a player who never seeks the spotlight and is very underrated when playing the beautiful game. His positioning, small movements during play, as well as the fact that he’s Arsenal’s highest scoring midfielder ever, means he’ll be sorely missed when he leaves for the price of nothing in the summer and the Gunners will need a huge personality to fill his boots.
The likes of James Maddison and Thomas Partey have recently been linked to Unai Emery’s side as potential replacements but neither are known as all-rounders in the middle of the park. Rumours have linked Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout with a move to the Emirates this summer and with his potential, he could be a good fit for Arsenal.
