Aguero, Salah, Aubamayeng? Who’s the favourite to win the Golden Boot 2019?

With just a few games remaining until the curtains close on the Premier League season, which forward looks most likely to pick up the Golden Boot at the end of the season? Could Salah regain his title? Can Aguero replicate his 33 goals in the 2017/18 season? Or, will Aubamayeng become the first African player to win this accolade since Didier Drogba?

Currently sitting at the top of the list we have the Argentinian magician, Sergio Aguero. A fan favourite and future Manchester City legend, Aguero has 19 goals this season despite playing 900 minutes fewer than Mohammed Salah. City’s number 10 looks the favourite to win the trophy and could take advantage of the game in hand Manchester City have. However, his injury-prone record could be his only downfall despite his obvious talent and love for scoring goals.

Sitting at the top of the table with Liverpool, Salah also has 19 goals to his name so far this season and could also earn player of the season after having two successful straight seasons in the Premier League. However, he is also closely followed by teammate Sadio Mane in the leaderboard as the Senegalese has just one fewer goal to his name.

A potential shock on the cards would be the England international, who has had an excellent season for Manchester City. His 17 goals have played a major part for Pep Guardiola’s side and could set a late challenge to become the 13th Englishman to claim the end of season award.

With the second-best ‘minutes per goal’ title in the Premier League (behind Aguero), the Arsenal forward could become the first African player to pick up the award since Drogba in the 2009-10 season. The Gabonese international sits on the same amount of goals as Sterling, but his lack of form could lead to his downfall.
