In recent times Chelsea have often appeared reckless in regards to selling young players, but are taking the right approach in rejecting all advances for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
According to Sky Sports, the Blues have rejected a fourth bid for talented youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi worth £22.5 million. The Bundesliga giants tried to sign the player in January but also failed then. The Bavarian outfit could yet come again with an improved bid considering that they need to add reinforcements this summer due to the departures of club legends Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
In the past Chelsea granted the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah limited first-team opportunities, prior to subsequently selling them. De Bruyne and Salah have since established themselves as two of the best in the Premier League, while Lukaku has a strong goal-to-game ratio for current club Manchester United despite issues with consistency.
With a transfer ban on the horizon however, the Blues must aim to keep hold of their prized assets at all hosts. Hudson-Odoi is one of the brightest young talents in English football. The youngster went on to make 10 Premier League appearances during the past season and looked impressive. He may have to play an important role for the club next season not least due to the departure of Eden Hazard.
Hazard’s departure means that the Blues will not have their best player over the past few years in the side for next season. They will now need to identify younger talent from within the setup who can go on to become stars. The Blues aim for next season should not be to win all the major trophies on offer but rather to ensure a top four finish and unearth a few gems from within the youth setup. They should also be aiming to make Hudson-Odoi a world-class talent next season. He could go on to become the long-term replacement for Hazard.
