Redknapp wants to see Spurs sign former player

Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has said that he wants to see Tottenham Hotspur making a move for former Spurs player, Gareth Bale.

The 29-year-old Bale is reportedly set to leave Madrid this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements at the club under Zinedine Zidane.

Gareth Bale established himself as a world-class player while he was with Spurs, playing 203 games and scoring 55 goals. Bale moved to Madrid during the summer of 2013. His time at the Santiago Bernabeu has seen him blow hot and cold but he does boast an impressive record, scoring 102 goals from 231 games.

Remarkably, he’s been a winner of four Champions League titles and one La Liga title during his time with the Spanish giants. His brace against Liverpool during the Champions League final last season was arguably the greatest display of his career.

Spurs fans will be divided over whether the club should move for Bale. He is still capable of world-class displays at times but there’s no doubting they have become less frequent. He’s also expected to demand a hefty wage packet and his injury record has been called into question by some. One could argue that the club should rather move for a younger player who can provide them with more value for money in the long-run.

Redknapp keen on Bale return

“His Real Madrid days look numbered. I’ve heard that clubs in China are keen to sign Bale, but I would love to see him return to Tottenham, imagine him lighting up their new stadium!” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

Tottenham look set to have an active window. Spurs have not signed a senior player during the past two transfer windows. They are expected to reward manager Mauricio Pochettino with a big transfer budget this summer as they look to bolster their squad with some quality additions.
