Two possible replacements for Trippier at Tottenham

Kieran Trippier looks set to depart Tottenham in the summer and there’s two possible replacements.

The 28-year-old struggled for consistency during the 2018/19 season despite delivering big performances for England during the 2018 World Cup. With Serge Aurier also failing to convince the Spurs hierarchy that he is capable of holding down the right-back role on a first-choice basis, the Lilywhites will be looking to bring in a quality replacement for Trippier this summer.

The following are two players that they are rumoured to be considering.

Ricardo Pereira

Pereira was previously strongly linked with a move to Spurs while he was on the books of FC Porto. He ended up completing a move to the King Power Stadium the following year. Pereira was brilliant during his first season in England as he went on to make 35 League appearances. One of his strengths is that he is versatile and can operate as a right winger as he did during the past season or as a wing-back as he did with Nice. The 25-year-old also went on to win Leicester’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

Nikola Milenkovic

The 21-year-old is a rising star in the making. While defensively brilliant, he needs to make improvement in his attacking play if he wants to be a success in the modern day Premier League. While Milenkovic is unlikely to come cheap, a deal for him could be possible following Fiorentina’s poor season.

Milenkovic is highly-rated and has been linked with moves to Manchester United as well as Manchester City. Whether Tottenham will be able to match those big spending clubs remains to be seen. However, if Daniel Levy digs deep, Tottenham obviously have the advantage of being based in London and that could be enough to swing it for certain players.
